Skrevet av: Prosjekt Ekspert

Was this your dream job when you were young?

“Most people don’t work their childhood dream job. When we are kids, most of us want to be, like, astronauts for example. But when we grow up, we change our perspective, and change our minds, and we often do jobs that we maybe were not interested in when we were younger. I would say that this was not my dream job as a child, because I didn’t even know about this.”

What is the best thing about your job?

“The best thing about my job, It can also be the worst thing, it depends on the perspective, is that i get to know a lot of places around the world because I move a lot. From one country to another, meeting new people, seeing new environments, visiting new cities. But at the same time it’s also demanding because you have to move a lot.

What does your job do for society?

“For society? Hmm, that’s very interesting. You have good questions. I’ve never really asked myself about it. I think that what we do is to strengthen the relations between Indonesia and Norway because i am posted here in Oslo. We try to improve all cooperations in all areas.

Do you think your job will exist for a long time?

“I guess that as long as nations exists and Norway and Indonesia exist the diplomat job will still be there, unless we go to Mars and make new civilizations. You have heard about Elon Musk, right? He wants to bring humanity to mars. But before that happens i think that my job would still be there, so i guess so, yeah.”

Are you afraid AI or robots will take over your job?

“I’ve been thinking about that actually lately. In terms of replacing, it could be, but not in the near future. I don’t know how the technology will develop in the next ten, twenty, years. But for now, it’s not the case yet. But we take advantage of AI in our job, doing research, writing some documents. But i don’t think there is any job in the world that is immune to AI and robots in the future. So for now, not yet, but in the future, maybe, but i am not sure.”

Why did you choose this job?

“Why did i choose this job? I’ve been asking myself about that. Because, you know, I took undergrad in Indonesia. The subject was international relations. I think why i chose the job was because i learned the subject in my undergrad. I think that’s the main reason.”

How does your day look as an ambassador?

“Well i am not the ambassador unfortunately, hehe. The ambassador is my boss, and i work under him. But my job is almost like ambassador but at a lower level.”

What do you think about the politics in your country?

“Oh, the politics, yeah. The politics in my country. So, Indonesia is a huge country, we have 280 million people, way bigger than here in Norway. And the politics reflect the population size. We have democracy in our system, the same as here in Norway. But the difference that we have a presidential system.

What do you think is the biggest difference between Norway and Indonesia?

“The biggest difference… The weather of course, mostly. It’s cold here. It’s freezing cold here in Norway. Especially these days.

Is it cold here?

It’s the coldest place I’ve ever been to!

How do you guys survive?

Do you miss Indonesian food?

Yeah, but because we have an Indonesian restaurant here in Oslo, it’s not the same but sometimes my wife cooks for me.

Thank you!
